Erected by Sabas "Tubay" Robles in 1931 at Barangay Sibaltan. El Nido, Palawan. Balay Tubay became the oldsest house during the last decade of the 2nd millenium until its demolition in 2004. It became a secret meeting place for the guerilla resistance against Japanese occupation force in 1943.
After its demolition, Balay Tubay was transferred to the town proper of El Nido With traces of history still inscribed on its aging wall, Balay Tubay continues to inspire arts enthusiasts, nature lovers and travelers as they gaze upon the art works and handicrafts produced by local artist and craftsmen and listen to music performed by local bands. Balay Tubay is a regular joint for the lively as it hosts a live band every night playing classic western favourites together with local numbers. If you have a musical edge yourself you are more than welcome to join in which makes for an ever more intimate atmosphere. Handicrafts are also sold here, some of which are crafted by the house musicians themselves!
